Dhanpat Rai Srivastava was better known as Munshi Premchand. He wrote both in Hindi and Urdu and he is widely regarded as one of the most famous writers of Indian literature. His works include Godaan, Karmabhoomi, Gaban, Mansarovar. He published his first collection of five short stories in 1907 in a book called Soz-e-Watan.
