Kathiawar Peninsula (also called Saurashtra Peninsula) is located in South-Western Gujarat. It is bounded by the Gulf of Kutch in the North-West and by the Gulf of Khambhat (Gulf of Cambay) in the East. The Peninsula has an area of more than 61000 sq km. It was formerly a state of India before it merged with Bombay State. In 1961, it separated from Bombay and joined Gujarat.
