Continuous and comprehensive evaluation refers to a student assessment system which covers all facets of education. As per CBSE, it is a developmental process of assessment with a twofold objective— (1) continuity in evaluation to address the ‘sudden death’ impact of full syllabus exams and reduce the workload on students; and (2) assessment of broad based learning and behavioural outcomes to ensure holistic education. It replaces the marks system with the grading system.
