Horizontal communication is the transmission of information between people, divisions, departments or units within the same level of organizational hierarchy. It is distinguished from vertical communication, which is the transmission of information between different levels of the organizational hierarchy. Vertical communication can be Downward, Upward or Cross. Corporate communication is a management function or department, like marketing, finance, or operations, dedicated to the dissemination of information to key constituencies, the execution of corporate strategy and the development of messages for a variety of purposes for inside and outside the organisation.
