Mid-latitude cyclones are formed in regions of strong temperaturecontrasts. Mid-latitude cyclones, sometimes called Extra-tropicalcyclones, are low-pressure areas. They are formed in the 30°N - 55°N range, hence the term “mid-latitude”.They are formed due to interaction of warm and cold fronts. These low pressure areas pop up easily during winter because of the large temperature difference between the equator and the North Pole.
