In Danial Latifi v. Union of India case, the Constitutional validity of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights of Divorce) Act, 1986 was upheld by the Supreme Court of India. In Muhammad Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum case, the Supreme Court directed to secure the rights of Muslim women on the maintenance filed. In Mary Roy v. State of Kerala case, the Supreme Court declared that the Christians in the former State of Travancore are governed by the provisions in Chapter 11 of Part V of the Indian Succession Act, 1925. In Shankari Prasad v. Union of India case, the constitutional validity of the first amendment (1951), which curtailed the right to property, was challenged.
