The Government of India cleared the proposal for the production of 18 indigenous ‘Dhanush’ artillery guns to be produced in India by Indian Ordnance Factory Board. Dhanush is a 155 mm-towed howitzer used by the Indian Army. The design is based on Bofors, now Haubits FH77, which India acquired in the 1980s. The gun as in June 2016 had entered into active production with confirmed order of 414 guns.
