The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted by the UNO in place of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), 2015, aim to achieve 17 goals by the year 2030. The total number of targets (under these 17 goals) is 169. The SDGs cover a broad range of social and economic development issues. The SDGs are also known as ‘Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ or ‘2030 Agenda’ in short.
