On hearing about the Chauri Chaura incident, which took place on 5th February 1922, Gandhi decided to withdraw the Non-Cooperation Movement. He also persuaded the Congress Working Committee to ratify his decision and thus, on 12th February 1922, the movement came to an end. Thus, fourth statement is incorrect. In Assam, labourers on tea plantations went on strike. When the fleeing workers were fired upon, there were strikes on the steamer service and on the Assam-Bengal Railway as well. So, the third statement is also incorrect. Madras had remained lukewarm to the movement and was not marked by non-Brahmin lower caste participation. So, the second statement is also incorrect. Hence, only the first statement is correct.
