Srirangam is a temple of Vaishanvite tradition.Srirangam is the foremost of the eight self-manifested shrines (Swayam Vyakta Kshetras) of Lord Vishnu .It is also considered the first and the most important of the 108 main Vishnu temples (Divyadesams). The Vaishnavite tradition is known for the loving devotion to an avatar of Vishnu (often Krishna), and as such has been key to the spread of the Bhakti movement in South Asia in the 2nd millennium CE. Chidambaram, Gangaikonda Cholapuram and Thanjavur temples are dedicated to lord shiva.
