TRIPS Agreement pertains to intellectual property protection.TRIPS provide minimum standards in the form of common set of rule for the protection of intellectual property globally under WTO system. The TRIPS agreement gives set of provisions which deals with the domestic procedures and remedies for the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The member countries have to prepare the necessary national laws to implement the TRIPS’ provisions. TRIPS cover eight areas for intellectual property rights (IPRs) legislation including patent, copyright and geographical indications. The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) is an international legal agreement between all the member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). It sets down minimum standards for the regulation by national governments of many forms of intellectual properties (IP) as applied to nationals of other WTO member nations. TRIPS was negotiated at the end of the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in 1994 and is administered by the WTO.
