Armed Forces (Special Powers) Acts (AFSPA) are the Acts of theParliament of India that grant special powers to the Indian ArmedForces in the ‘disturbed areas’. The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act was enacted in 1958 to bring under control what the government of India considered ‘disturbed areas’. At present, it is in force in Assam, Nagaland, Manipur (except the Imphal municipal area), Arunachal Pradesh (only the Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts plus a 20-km belt bordering Assam) and Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, only statement (2) is correct about AFSPA. In 2018, Centre has withdrawn AFSPA totally from Meghalaya.
