● Articles 200 and 201 of the Constitutions deals with the legislative powers of the Governor ● A Governor can take the following action with respect to an (ordinary)bill passed by the state legislature: ● He may give his assent to the bill after which it becomes a law. ● He may send the bill back to the legislature for reconsideration. ● He may withhold his assent. ● He may reserve the bill for consideration of the President . ● With regards to a money bill , all of the above of given options are available to the Governor but he cannot send the bill back to the legislature for reconsiderations. ● Constitutional Amendment bills cannot be introduced in a state legislature.The Governor has to give his assent to the bill sent after reconsideration by the state legislature. ● Once the governor has reserved the bill for the consideration of the President, Governor has no role after that, only the assent of President matters.
