Question : 5
Total: 11
State Raoult's law for the solution containing volatile components. What is the similarity between Raoult's law and Henry's law ?
Solution:
According to Raoult's Law, "the partial pressure of each component in a mixture of volatile liquids equals the product of its vapour pressure at pure state and its mole fraction in the solution."
Both Raoult's law and Henry's law say that the partial pressure of the volatile component is precisely proportional to its mole fraction in the solution, which is where they have similarities. It is a liquid in the case of Raoult's law and a gas in the case of Henry's law.
