A fuse is rated 8A . Can it be used with an electrical appliance rated 5‌KW,200V ? Give a reason.

Solution:

Here, for the electrical applicance, it is given,
Power =5‌KW=5000W and
potential difference (voltage)
=200V
We know,

or ‌I=‌

=25A
i.e. the appliance will draw a current of 25A .

So, a fuse of current rating 8A cannot be used as it cannot allow a current of 25 A to flow through it.
