Question : 11
Total: 36
What is the concentration of sugar ( C 12 H 22 O 11 ) in m o l L – 1 if its 20 g are dissolved in enough water to make a final volume up to 2 L?
Solution:
The molecular mass of sugar ( C 12 H 22 O 11 ) = 12 × 12 + 1 × 22 + 11 × 16
= 144 + 22 + 176 = 342
∴ Moles of sugar =
= 0.058
Volume of solution = 2 L
∴ Molarity =
=
= 0.029 m o l L − 1
= 144 + 22 + 176 = 342
∴ Moles of sugar =
Volume of solution = 2 L
∴ Molarity =
