Question : 1
Total: 67
(i) Calculate the number of electrons which will together weigh one gram.
(ii) Calculate the mass and charge of one mole of electrons.
Solution:
(i) Mass of an electron is 9.109 × 10–31 kg.
1 g or 10−3 kg =
1
9.109×10−31
×10−3
electrons = 0.1098 × 1028 electrons
= 1.098 × 1027 electrons
(ii) Mass of 1 electron = 9.109 × 10–31 kg
Mass of 1 mole of electrons = 9.109 × 10–31 × 6.022 × 1023 = 5.480 × 10–7 kg
Charge of 1 electron = 1.602 × 10–19 C
Charge of 1 mole of electrons = 1.602 × 10–19 × 6.022 × 1023 C = 9.647 × 104 C
