If the velocity of the electron in Bohr’s first orbit is 2.19 × 10 6 m s – 1 , calculate the de Broglie wavelength associated with it.
Solution:
We know that, λ =
where, h = 6.626 × 10 – 34 J s,
m = mass of electron = 9.1 ×10 – 31 k g , v = 2.19 × 10 6 m ∕ s
∴ λ =
= 0.32 × 10 − 9 m = 332 × 10 − 12 m
λ = 332 pm [Since 1 pm =10 − 12 m ]
m = mass of electron = 9.1 ×
∴ λ =
λ = 332 pm [Since 1 pm =
