Triveni Canal has been constructed on the Gandak river. It was started in 1979. It has been constructed for the irrigation in Champaran district of Bihar. The Gandak river is also known as the Narayani river, it is one of the major rivers of Nepal and it is a left bank tributary of the Ganga river in India.
