ChanChandragupta Maurya , supported by a wise man named Chanakya overthrew the Nandas and established the rule of Maurya Dynasty in 321 BCE.
Chanakya, who is known as Kautilya is traditionally believed to be the minister of Chandragupta.
Many of Chanakya’s ideas were written down in a book called the Arthashastrawritten in Sankrit.
Puranas
The Puranas contain stories about gods and goddesses, such as Vishnu, Shiva, Durga or Parvati & also contain details on how they were to be worshipped; besides, there are accounts about the creation of the world, and about kings.
The Puranas were written in simple Sanskrit verse, and were meant to be heard by everybody, including women and shudras, who were not allowed to study the Vedas and were probably recited in temples by priests, and people came to listen to them.
Puranas are supposed to have been complied by Vyas.
Rajatarangini is a chronicle about the kings of Kashmir written in Sanskrit by Kalhana.
