Show Para
A platform is attached to the ground by an ideal spring of constant k. Both the spring and the platform have negligible mass. Mass of the man standing on ground ism 1 = 72 kg. A large lump of clay of mass m 2 = 12.5 kg is kept onthe platform. Man gently steps onto the platform and platform settles down to a new equilibrium position, a vertical distance, D = 0.5 m below the original position. Assume that man never losses contact with platform. Man slowly picks up the lump of clayand hold it at a height h above the platform. Upon releasing the clay, the platform will oscillate up and down.
