Agrobacterium tumefaciens is called as nature's genetic engineer. Plant transformation is mediated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens, a soil plant pathogenic bacterium. It has become the most used method for the introduction of foreign genes into plant cells and the subsequent regeneration of transgenic plants. It naturally infects the wound sites in dicotyledonous plant, causing the formation of the crown gall tumors.
