Solution:
Let the two-digit number be 10x + y, then
x + y = 8 ...(i)
And also, 10x + y – (10y + x) = 54
⇒ 9x – 9y = 54
⇒ x – y = 6 ...(ii)
Solving equations (i) & (ii), we get x = 7, y = 1
Then number = 10 × 7 + 1 = 71
