(3) A parasitic plant is a plant that derives some or all of its nutritional requirements from another living plant. They make up about 1% of angiosperms and are in almost every biome in the world. Mushrooms are parasites of ants, caterpillars and a slew of other insects. They take control of these insects’ motor neurons using chemistry to control the movement of the insect while allowing the insect’s brain to remain active.
