In the Union Budget 2020-21, the government of India proposed to spend ₹ 3042230 crore in 2020-21, which was 12.7% higher than the revised estimate of 2019-20. In the budget 2020-21, the government had assumed a nominal GDP growth rate of 10% and revenue deficit was targeted at 2.7% of GDP which was higher than the revised estimate of 2.4% in 2019-20. In 2021-22 budget, total expenditure was expected to be ₹ 3483236 crore, which was 1% higher than the revised estimate of 2020-21.
