Renuka lake is located in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is the largest lake in Himachal Pradesh. It is believed that the lake is an embodiment of Renukaji, the mother of Parshurama (one of the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu) and wife of the sage Jamadagini. The lake has a circumference of about 3214m and surface elevation of 672m. It was designated as World Heritage Site on November 08, 2005.
