There are 953 windows on the outside walls of Hawa Mahal of Jaipur. It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. It is made up of red and pink sandstone. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. Its five floor exterior is akin to honeycomb with its 953 small windows called Jharokhas decorated with intricate latticework. The Mahal is maintained by the archaeological department of the Government of Rajasthan.
