Vice-President acts as the President during casual vacancy that arises due to death of the President. If Vice-President is not available due to any reason then Chief Justice of Supreme Court will act as the President. The Vice-President of India is the second highest constitutional office in the country. He serves for a five-year term. He is the ex-officio Chairman of the Council of States.
