Nand Kishore Acharya won the Sahitya Akademi Award 2019 in Hindi. He was awarded for his poetry "Chheelatey Hue Apne Ko". Congress leader Shashi Tharoor also won the award for his book "An Era of Darkness" in English. The Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 is bestowed to Politician-writer M. Veerappa Moily and poet Arundhathi Subramaniam along with other writers. Sahitya Akademi Award is the highest literary award in India.
