Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the President of India during the Emergency of 1975-1977. Under his Presidency, first time National Emergency was imposed in country under the Article-352 of the Indian Constitution. This period (1975-1977) is considered as Black Days of Indian Democracy. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed approved the National Emergency advice of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi without the consensus of Council of Minister. When National Emergency is implemented, the Federal political system turns into Unitary and Union Government become most powerful entity in the country.
