The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2018 was awarded to Mirabai Chanu in the discipline of Weightlifting and Virat Kohli in the discipline of Cricket.
The award has been named after Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India & it is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award was awarded for the first time in1991-92 to Vishwanathan Anand in the discipline of Chess and the most recent in 2019 is awarded to Deepa Malik and Bajrang Punia.
The only sportsperson who has won the highest Sports Honour Award in India, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, for two disciplines, Billiards & Snooker, is Pankaj Advani.
