  Diversity encompasses all those differences which make us unique, including race, colour, ethnicity, language, gender, age, physical and mental ability. In the context of the workplace, diversity equals representation but diversity alone does not help achieve corporate goals. Inclusion makes an organisation truly diverse.
 Diversity can help achieve strategic goals and improve organizational outcomes. It is vital to make people feel valued and respected and have access to the same opportunities. The need for inclusion and belonging is inherent in all human beings. Diversity in workforce is desirable to achieve expertise in various functions of an organisation. But often managers select like-minded people with similar working styles for planning and holding important positions. Some employees may experience subtle discrimination by being excluded form important conversations.
 At times the people who see themselves as different adopt a coping mechanism to conform the characteristics of the majority. But when unique employees move towards the norms of the homogeneous majority, it negates the positive impact of diversity within the group. It becomes the responsibility of the leaders to encourage differences and utilize the varied experiences of the employees. Inclusivity builds trust and lasting relationships based on mutual respect. Diversity without inclusivity has no meaning and till individuals of all abilities are fully integrated in the workforce, the organisation cannot be productive and innovative. An inclusive environment creates a happy workplace where each individual feels welcome and accepted.
