Fundamental research involves the scientific research method that aims to improve scientific theories for improved understanding or prediction of natural or other phenomena. Applied research is a methodology used to solve a specific, practical problem of an individual or group. It is used in business, medicine and education to find solutions that may cure diseases, solve scientific problems or develop technology. Action research is either research initiated to solve an immediate problem or a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with others in teams or as part of a “community of practice” to improve the way they address issues and solve problems. Experimental research is performed in a controlledenvironment strictly adhering to a scientific research design. It includes a hypothesis, a variable that can be manipulated by the researcher, and variables that can be measured, calculated and compared.
