● The Meghalaya plateau is part of the Peninsular plateau. ● It is further sub-divided into three, ◦ The Garo hills, ◦ The Khasi hills, ◦ the Jaintia hills. ● It is also rich in mineral resources like coal, iron ore, sillimanite, limestone, and uranium like the Chotanagpur plateau. ● The area receives maximum rainfall from the southwest monsoon. ◦ As a result, the Meghalaya plateau has a highly eroded surface. ● A huge fault called Malda fault separates Rajmahal hills and Meghalaya plateau.
