The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointments of new executive directors for the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of Haryana IAS officer Rajesh Khullar as executive director, World Bank headquarters, in Washington DC.
At present, Khullar is principal secretary to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
As the executive director, Khullar will represent India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at the World Bank.
The World Bank Group comprises 25 executive directors who represent a country or constituency of countries, and they are either appointed or elected tothe position.
While Sameer Kumar Khare has been will be the new executive director at Asian Development Bank
Sameer Kumar Khare is a 1989 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre and presently serving as additional secretary in the economic affairs department of the finance ministry.
Both the appointments are for a period of three years.
Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank has appointed Takeo Konishi as its new country director for India, succeeding Kenichi Yokoyama.
Kenichi Yokoyama has taken over as director-general of Asian Development Bank’s South Asia department.
