In South Bengal region, wet farming is mainly practised because of high average rainfall and availability of rich deltaic alluvial soil. In wet farming more than one crop is grown in a year because enough amount of moisture in the soil is available. Rice and Jute are the main crops grown in this type of farming. Other regions where wet farming is practised in India include Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Malabar coast of Kerala.
