DC series motors winding are in series with armature resistance due to which they experience more intense (heavy) currents generated by motor’s armature. So to counter there heavy current, the winding are made thick and number of turn less. If In heavy current is number of turn is large then saturation of field may occur to avoid this less number of turn use.
