Acharya Narendra Deva was a representative of the socialist views in the Indian National Congress. He was instrumental in the formation of Congress Socialist Party in 1934, a left-wing group within the Congress. Narendra Dev was appointed as its President and Jay Prakash Narayan as General Secretary. Some of its other leaders were: Yusuf Meherally, Rambriksh Benipuri, and Ram Manohar Lohia.
