Sikkim was made an associate state of India in September 1974 under the 35th Amendment Act 1974 which inserted a new article 2A to the Indian Constitution. It was integrated as the full— fledged state of India under the 36th Amendment Act, 1975. The 36th Amendment Act 1975 repealed Article 2A, and added Article 371F, to protect the unique identity and old laws of Sikkim, along with other small amendments.
